One type of HDTV is an LCD and computer monitors are LCD as well. But it doesn't have to be LCD as long as it has the connectors. If the TV has DVI or VGA connector you can easily hook up a computer to it. Sometimes the TV will label it as PC connector. Otherwise you will have to buy adapter cables. If your TV has HDMI you can use your PCs DVI output with an adapter because HDMI is basically DVI with audio.
