How does "speedtest.net" know my real postion?
Hello! You probably know the website "speedtest.net" that tells you how fast your internet connection is. Also, the page shows you your current position. BUT I use for some stuff I do a proxy server, so my IP adress is different. Whenever I do a IP adress check on one of those many websites, even on Google, it tells me the adress of the proxy server and the country it is in. If I go to speedtest.net with proxy activated, it still knows my real IP and position. How does that function? Thats kind of scary! Thank you for an explanation/ help!

It is not that hard to trace a signal back to its source and these programs do that. Your exact location is not known however, just the location of your closest ISP site.
