How to boost wifi signal in 3 story house?
I have modem and wireless router in my basement. The modem has a phone line, cable line, and ethernet line(going to router on top of it) coming from it. I play ps3 and have my laptop on the 3rd floor all the way on the opposite side of the house so my wifi connection is fairly week and i get disconnected often.
Can i move the modem and router from the basement to the kitchen perhaps on the middle floor and everything work properly? If so do i just find where the cable and phone line cords lead to from the modem and unplug them, then carry it all upstairs and reassemble it?
I have experience resetting routers and modems to fix connection etc. but moving them has always stumped my small, feeble mind.

Best Answer:
I used 3g network for gaming while i stayed in the stix the last couple months it was a terrible experience. But in my time there i discovered that depending on where your networking hardware resides plays a huge roll in how fast your speed is gonna be.You want w/e is picking up your signal to NOT be under like 3 walls and what not lol , soon as you said multiple floors i knew that was gonna be an issue there lol , but i dunno you shouldnt be getting dc'd hmmm ,
Find the honey spot.. anywhere you go , theres gonna be some direction , altitude , or angle that is gonna get you a better signal , i could literally turn my phone slightly and drop from like 180 ms to 150 cuase i got that extra bar lol. i would just keep everything kinda generaly in the same area and then pay attention to speed changes in your hardware
