My landlord feeds me internet & I get warnings that we share the same IP address?
Is this a matter for concern? Or, since he feeds me internet, is it just the way it is?
He's a dubious man of questionable character..... redundant, I know.
hmmm, interesting. I'm not sure how to do that.
Ok, I went into control panel and asked for an automatically updated IP address. I hope that's good enough. Or, maybe going to Command Prompt is better? I don't know where to add 5 to my address.
My landlord feeds free internet to the complex so, me and several others.
It's wireless, but I don't think it's exactly Wi-Fi. Maybe, it is. Don't know... hmmm

Yes, that should be a matter of concern.
One or both of you are using static IP addressing. My suggestion is you try adding 5 to the last octet of your address for example.. if right now you are 192.168.1.2 try changing to 192.168.2.7

Assuming "feeds me internet" means the two of you share a residential connection, that means there's something wrong with the router configuration he's using, or one (or both) of you are using the same manually assigned IP address. Having two machines with the same IP on the same connection will not work if both of them are on...

first open My Network Places then
click to open "View Workgroup Computers"
if there is nothing shown as a file or folder then he is not connected to your computer
Now change your IP address
disconnect from internet and press "reset" button on
the CPU casing
if earlier IP was 192.168 1.124
then make it manually 192.168.1.147 or anything you like
Same IP address usually happens, so nothing unusual
