#6: Security failures
I worked for a company that had to have two people come from 300 miles away to update windows. They would only be called when something was attacking the network or if they had their scheduled time of every six months to a year to come and update windows itself. The tech guy that was on-site wasn't allowed to update the systems in any way. They would only let him change out hardware.

#8 and #9
I have worked on many computers whereas the machine that the person bought had came with a trial version of virus software and the person thought they were still protected even after the software had expired.

#10: Unsolicited E-mail
In my own opinion people make the mistake when they pick up email at all.
I always suggest using a software like MailWasher that will allow you to view emails in text form and viewing it straight from the server itself. This was you have the ability to decide what stays and what goes before you infect your computer or get junk mail. Mailwasher allows for a rule system and tells you if there is an attachment. Best of all it is free. The free version only allows for one account to be used. You have to pay for it to use multiple accounts.

My #11
The biggest mistake is that most people are set in their ways to run their everyday business the same way and don't follow up on information they are given only because that would mean changing a routine or general setup.

my #12
The one employee that was allowed to take their company laptop home. They decided to view porn with it in an unsecured environment and then brought it back to the company only to have the network compromised.

We had exactly the same problem at a client site - although it takes a bit longer to manifest itself (a few days before it keels over). We were already using an Intel NIC instead of the Broadcom, but the drivers weren't up to date.

Have updated the drivers and hopefully that will fix the problem.

Thanks for the post!

We will consider adding sound as an improvement for next year. No guarantees, but we will definitely look into it.

Response Point is going to be an excellent tool for small business to integrate their communications. It was well worth the training.
